When Claude Debussy died in 1918, the only piano he owned the last 14 years of his life changed hands many times before the Musée Labenche in Brive-La-Gaillarde (FR) acquired it in 1990. The second set of strings that vibrate sympathetically above the others make this a unique design. Thollem McDonas was invited to compose and perform on Debussy's piano and make the first published recording of it. The third concert performed on the piano at the museum, Thollem played 5 pieces Debussy composed on it 100 years prior. He then invited Italian contra bassist Stefano Scodanibbio to perform comprovisations Thollem had written specifically for the occasion as a 21st century homage to Debussy. The resulting album, On Debussy's Piano And... , is also available for digital download.
